Andy Smith, Bass

Andrew B. Smith is a graduate of the Crane School, Potsdam, NY. Smith has taught public school music since 1993 and has been listed in Who’s Who of America’s Teachers. He has guest conducted several middle school music festivals, hosted regional jazz festivals and serves as an adjudicator for the VT All State Jazz Ensemble, the VTAJE High School Festival and the District III Middle School Low Brass. Andy is co-director of the Vermont Jazz Camp at the Elley Long Music Center and has facilitated clinics for the Vermont Alliance for Arts Education, Vermont Music Educators Association, and the Vermont Online Arts Conference.

Along with successful teaching experiences, Andy has had an extensive performing career spanning fourteen countries, seventeen states and three continents. He has performed on stages from B.B. King’s in NYC to the world famous Imatra Jazz Festival in Finland. His recording credits include the Grammy nominated Mighty Sam McClain, Prydein, Jazzmosis, Swinging Vermont Big Band, The Main Street Quartet, and others. Andy performs regularly with Prydein, Small Change, The Bessette Quartet, and many small jazz combos.

Mr. Smith currently teaches 4 – 8 instrumental and general music at the Charlotte Central School and resides in Addison, VT.
